On Good Friday (10th April) we’ll be running Salt online! We really value meeting together so we’ve been working on an alternative so our teens can gather virtually and keep growing in Jesus.

What will we do?
  • Catch up and play a game all together
  • Hear a talk from the Bible
  • Split up into age and gender groups to do a short bible study and chat
What time will Salt be online?

Online video chat sessions with organised activities will start from 7pm. Save the date and let your teens know!

Parents of current Salt teens will have received the zoom link via email. If you’d like more info or the link for your teen to join, please contact Mel Clement via email

Through this challenging time in our church life, rest assured that the work of The Lakes will carry on, it will just be in a different form, mostly online and by phone. Our team is working hard to make sure that God’s people are encouraged, connected and cared for throughout this season.

We’ve made it easy for our regular members to contribute to this vital work of caring for our community. Many in our church family already give via online banking, but we now have the facilities for people to give by credit card as well. Visit the Giving page of our website to find out how to give by direct deposit or online by credit card through our Tithe.ly plugin.

Please note: if giving by credit card there is no need to have a Tithe.ly account or to sign up for one.

We thank you for your continued love and generosity towards the work of The Lakes!

9am Good Friday

On the night before he died, Jesus gathered for a meal with his closest disciples. During that meal he did two things: wash his disciples’ feet and share bread and wine with them. Two simple, intimate and profound things that would help them and us to understand the meaning of his death.

BYO Lord’s Supper

As part of our Good Friday service, we’ll share in a BYO Lord’s Supper together. We encourage you to involve your whole household and most importantly plan ahead. Grab some bread or crackers, some grape juice or wine and have them ready to go before the service starts. Dave will lead us through it towards the end of the service so we can share it as a church family!

9am Easter Sunday

We’re living through a time of anxiety and uncertainty. Into our world Jesus speaks these words: “Do not let your hearts be troubled: trust in God, trust also in me.” Jesus helps us to see that his death and resurrection provide a certain hope for the future and a profound comfort in the present.

Join us as we declare the wonderful news: Christ is risen… he is risen indeed!

For kids

There will be activity packs available to download which you’ll find in the sidebar of this page.

With the current social distancing restrictions you may be wondering how we’re going to pull off the music for our live-stream this Sunday.

Well, we’ll have one live muso but they’ll be playing along to others on the music team who have recorded their parts at home. Here’s a sneak peek behind-the-scenes with our tech master Geoff!

In this latest update, Dave asks our members to send in short videos to show us a bit of what’s going on at your place during this time of isolation. These will be shown over the coming Sundays during the live-stream. We miss you and would just love to see your faces!! If you’d like to send us a video, check the post about this in our Facebook group (The Voice) or your emails for instructions on what we are after and where to upload your video.

On Monday night the NSW government introduced new rules about people gathering and a partial ban on leaving our homes. Both measures have been introduced to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.

This note is a brief summary of the new rules and what they mean for The Lakes Church. If you’d like to see a detailed analysis of the rules, please contact Allan Asher (his details are in the church directory).

Non-essential gatherings

From today most indoor and outdoor non-essential gatherings are to be limited to two people. This is in addition to the announcement made last week that church services were determined to be non-essential. Members of the public are not permitted to come to our ministry centre and from tonight no gatherings of more than two (excepting members of the same family) are permitted in a public place. The restriction does not apply to our homes (they are not public places) but the measures restricting travel mean no meetings of Growth Groups at the ministry centre or in homes, so we will be meeting online only.

Essential gathering

The policy is that, except for essential gatherings (explained below), everyone should stay at home, unless:

  • going to work or education (if you are unable to do so at home)
  • shopping for essential supplies such as groceries, after which you need to return home without delay
  • going out for personal exercise in your neighbourhood, on your own or with one other
  • attending medical appointments or compassionate visits

Essential gatherings for which leaving your home is OK are:

  • workplaces which includes the ministry centre where the Sunday service live-stream is produced (these are regarded as essential because this function can not be performed  from home – worship services and places of worship are closed to members of the public but not to staff and volunteers working on church business)
  • health care settings
  • pharmacies
  • food shopping
  • schools and universities (where you cannot study from home)
  • public transport and airports

These essential gatherings must apply social distancing and good hygiene practices, including:

  • maintaining a distance of 1.5 metres between people
  • providing hand hygiene products and suitable rubbish bins, with frequent cleaning and waste disposal

Lakes Church

The intentions of the policy restricting gatherings is a good one and we are following both the rules and their intent. Those on our team working at the office and those producing the live-stream Sunday service will keep social distancing and hygiene practices and work with the minimum necessary numbers of workers.

People not engaged in the work of the church (that is, members of the public or church members who do not have a specific job to do) are not permitted into the ministry centre.

We want our staff and volunteers working on essential activities to be safe and feel safe with the measures we have adopted. We’re urging anyone working at the ministry centre who is concerned about their personal welfare to let a staff member know so that other measures which may eliminate or reduce any risk to safety or wellbeing can be put into place immediately. In addition, we encourage our staff and volunteers to feel free to leave the site at any time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Allan Asher, our go-to man for all things coronavirus (his details are in the church directory).
