History & Vision
Our Vision
As a church community, our desire is to see a flood of disciples following Jesus. To this end we want Jesus’ love, God’s word and the Spirit’s power to so fill us and overflow from us that everyone in our region has compelling reason to follow Jesus.
“God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Our History
The Lakes Church started in 2002 when David and Ruth Sheath moved to the Central Coast of NSW and gathered together a core group to share God’s word and Jesus’ love with the people of this region.
The Lakes has always enjoyed a close partnership with EV Church at Erina and other evangelical churches on the Central Coast and around Australia. Over the past decade this partnership has resulted in the formation of our denomination: the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).
For 17 years our church met at Berkeley Vale High School. We now have a purpose-built Ministry Centre in Tuggerah Business Park, which is used for our Sunday services and many other gatherings throughout the week.
We feel blessed to have such a diverse and warm community life made up of people of all ages and backgrounds and indeed that is the character of Jesus’ church!
“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28
